NEK Waste Management District Proposes Higher Trash Surcharge and Recycling Fees for 2027
LYNDON — The Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District is proposing another increase in its trash surcharge and higher recycling pickup fees in 2027 to help cover rising fuel, labor and insurance costs. The draft budget calls for about $1.03 million in revenue and expenses, up from $1.02 million in the current budget. The Board of Supervisors reviewed the proposal Oct. 13 and approved it for presentation at two public informational meetings in November. The proposed increases would follow fee hikes already implemented in 2026.
