Police Identify Couple in Eden Murder Suicide

EDEN, Vt. — Vermont State Police say a couple found dead in their Eden home this week died in a murder-suicide. Autopsies conducted Thursday identified the deceased as David Buchanon, 78, and his wife, Karol Buchanon, 70. Investigators determined that David Buchanon fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Karol’s death a homicide, and David’s a suicide. Both died of gunshot wounds to the head. Police said the couple lived at the residence on Route 100 where their bodies were discovered.
