Two Injured in Groveton Crash Between Tractor-Trailer and Railroad Plow

Two people were injured after a tractor-trailer collided with a railroad plow in Groveton on Monday. At 6:02 p.m., New Hampshire State Police Troop F troopers responded to a report of a crash involving a railroad plow and tractor-trailer near mile marker 173 on Route 3 in Groveton, NHSP officials said in a press release issued Tuesday. The preliminary investigation determined that a railroad plow, operated by Joseph Letourneau, 22, of Derby, Vt., was plowing snow when it became stuck in the middle of Route 3. A tractor-trailer, loaded with lumber and traveling southbound, could not avoid the railroad plow and struck it head-on. The tractor-trailer, driven by Edward Stone, 64, of Williamstown, Vt., lost a portion of its load of lumber, which scattered across Route 3. The road was closed for multiple hours while the lumber was cleaned up. Letourneau and Stone were transported to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
