Select Board proposes to take out three bonds
LITTLETON — To tackle big upgrades at the wastewater treatment plant, Littleton Water Light, and replace a major culvert, the Select Board proposes to take out three bonds, which will be presented for the February deliberative session and March town vote. The projects were detailed Tuesday during the town’s bond and budget hearing in the Littleton High School cafeteria. Article 6 asks voters to raise $2 million to replace the Palmer Brook culvert on Manns Hill Road. The total cost, however, will be offset by a state-administered $1.5 million Federal Emergency Management Agency hazard mitigation grant, which would leave the town share at not more than $500,000. Addressing the need for the project, Eric Oliver, director of the Littleton Department of Public Works, said the culvert has been damaged for many years. He said the plan is to replace the culvert and adjust the road to meet the 100-year flood mark.
