About 300 Northeast Kingdom homeowners have applied to FEMA for assistance following the disaster declaration for the July 30 storm that struck the region. Vermont Field Coordinating Officer Will Roy gave an update on FEMA’s recovery efforts for the several open disaster declarations in Vermont, including the two July floods, during Gov. Phil Scott’s weekly press conference Tuesday. Roy said FEMA has received over 2,200 applications for assistance from individuals impacted by the July storms. About 1,900 applications were from the early July flooding that resulted in a disaster declaration in 7 counties, and the remaining applications were from the July 30th storm that resulted in a disaster declaration for Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties.
