A sergeant with the towns police department pleaded not guilty
ST. JOHNSBURY — A sergeant with the town’s police department pleaded not guilty in Caledonia Superior Court on Monday to a felony assault charge in which his physical response to a resisting jaywalker was deemed “George Floyd concerning.” George Johnson, 44, of Lunenburg, sat at the defense table in the courtroom for the brief arraignment with his attorney, Leonard Milligan, by his side. Family members were there, along with much of the town’s police force in uniform, including Chief Joel Pierce.
