A year after the Select Boards of Littleton and Franconia voted to extend their Emergency Medical Services contract
A year after the Select Boards of Littleton and Franconia voted to extend their Emergency Medical Services contract, the fire chiefs and town officials reviewed the call numbers for the full year and found that the call volume to Franconia Notch State Park was lower than anticipated. Their latest update also included a brief talk of EMS regionalization. In May 2023, following the disbandment of the Franconia Life Squad for lack of volunteers, the towns of Littleton and Franconia, which in 2022 entered into a shorter-term contract, agreed to extend their contract, through which Littleton provides ambulance service at the full expense of Franconia, which last year agreed to pay for the hiring of four new full-time firefighters for Littleton Fire Rescue to cover the additional calls. During the Franconia Select Board’s June 24 meeting, LFR Chief Chad Miller said there were a total of 290 calls for service to Franconia from May 2023 to May 2024.
