The Town of St. Johnsbury applied for a grant
The Town of St. Johnsbury applied for a grant from the state and was awarded $5.4 million. The funding will reduce or treat combined sewer overflows (CSO). The program is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). “The Governor directed towards CSO projects,” said Town Manager Chad Whitehead. “That comes to us in the form of loan forgiveness.” The project has already been completed, including Pleasant Street, Gilman Avenue, School Street, Nelson Street, Dundee Street, Concord Avenue and other streets and roads in the neighborhood. The state has allocated these funds as grants to 11 Vermont municipalities to prioritize projects that reduce or treat combined sewer overflows (CSO). Gov. Phil Scott proposed funding for this use, which the Legislature approved.
