BETHLEHEM — SAU 35 Superintendent Kate Segal’s request Thursday that the Profile School Board open an independent investigation into its own conduct was denied. In lengthy remarks, Segal argued that improper actions by board members had contributed to the abrupt departure of multiple principals and superintendents in recent years — including sitting principal Kerry Bushway, who submitted her resignation at Thursday’s meeting effective July 1. Segal focused her criticism on board chair Kim Koprowski, alleging that Koprowski had habitually acted on her own in defiance of board policy. Koprowski did not dispute Segal’s allegations; instead, she apologized for any transgressions she may have made. The five board members who were present felt that Segal’s summation of her concerns had been comprehensive and did not require follow-up.
